Horned Lizard

Its so gross...but so good

You thought skunks were bad. Instead of shooting out of its butt though, it uses its eye. And instead of acid they use blood... More info below.

The horned lizard is often referred to as the "horned toad" but it is a reptile that belongs to the "Phrynonsomatidae".  They use their yellowish, gray, or reddish-brown coloring and their flat bodies as camouflage.

They are about 2.5-6 inches and their are about 15 species. They can inflate their bodies combining their new size and spikes to make them extremely hard to swallow. And if that fails some species will shoot blood out of their eye (up to three feet) which smells horrible to canines and is generally confusing and distasteful to other animals.

They live in the western part of North America, British Colombia, Mexico, and Guatemala. They mainly eat ants, grasshoppers, beetles, and spiders.
